It goes without saying, any area which is to have transfers applied has to be clean and free from grease or any foreign particles. To clean wipe down with methylated spirits to remove any any final traces of grease.
Self Adhesive (S) - Remove the backing paper, position the transfer and rub down.
NOTE
When using varnishes, always check with a paint sprayer or stove enameller to see if they are compatible. Clear Cellulose and Single Pack Acrylic Sprays may cause the transfers to shrink, Avoid at ALL costs.

Water Slide (W) - Immerse the transfer in cold water (not ice cold) for about 20-30 seconds to allow the transfer to curl. Remove from the water and allow a little time for the water to soften the gum and release the transfer from the backing. Once the transfer and backing have flattened out, the transfer should move freely on the. Slide the transfer so the design is just overlapping the edge of the backing paper, get into the postion of where the transfer is to be fixed, slide out the backing between the transfer and the workpiece, the transfer will still able to be moved into the exact place, then with a moist finger remove any excess air bubbles. Use a clean kitchen paper to clean any excess moisture and gum. Leave to dry for at least 24 hours. Clean any remaining gum left on the workpiece and transfer. Protect the transfer with clear varnish. (white spirit based)

Rub the transfer down well giving slightly more pressure to the end which the coloured backing paper will be peeled from. Leave for approx 10-15 seconds, then peel off the backing paper gently. To get maximum adhesion rub down again. To protect the transfer use a suitable compitable varnish. (see end of notes)
